| The hot spring was discovered in April, 2003, with the help of CPC Corporation, Taiwan. 330 tons of sodium bicarbonate hot spring is produced per day at a pH of 8.2 and a temperature of 49℃. The TDS level is 784 mg/L and HCO3- level is 792 mg/L.
The sodium bicarbonate hot spring is a weak base, so regularly bathing in its waters can improve arthritis and neuralgia, lower blood sugar levels, cleanse and remove dead skin cells, and increase one’s metabolism. This hot spring is also nicknamed “beauty spring” because of its effects in moisturizing and brightening the skin like a natural toner.
The idea of a spa originated in Germany in the 17th century where it was named Kurhaus, which literally means “care house.” These hot spring centers use three attributes – water pressure, upthrust, and temperature – to help people recover from muscle aches and increase metabolism rates. For example, bathing in hot and cold springs can increase blood circulation and thus improve one’s metabolism. Furthermore, the water pressure can help in relaxation and ease away fatigue, leaving one’s body renewed and rejuvenated. The design and idea of Kurhaus is based on using the most advanced water facilities and theories from physics, hydrodynamics, and heat to rejuvenate and relax one’s body and mind.
The medical effects of spa treatments have been extensively researched. Effective treatments can speed up blood circulation, remove excess water in the body, improve metabolism rates, and reduce pressures in joints. Spas are also effective in soothing and calming one’s mind which naturally induces a healthier lifestyle. Moreover, its effectiveness at reviving skin cells and toning muscles makes it a much sought after activity.
